TABERNACLE BAPTIST COLLEGE

Master of Theology

The Master of Theology degree is a 32 hour program that focuses on Theological studies. Thirty hours are given to classroom study and two hours to *Thesis development.

The program is designed to accommodate those already in the ministry by allowing them to take as few or as many classes as their schedules will allow. The student could complete the program in one year of intensive study; however, most students will need to take a second year to complete their theses. Because each night is self-contained, the student could spread the class work over more years by designing a convenient, personalized schedule.

Form Follow the guidelines set in the latest edition of A Manual for Writers, Kate L. Turabian.

Length 15,000 words (This number is given as a guide. The emphasis is on quality not quantity.)

Topic The student must choose a topic in the area of Biblical Theology and submit his choice to the administration for approval.

Deadlines The student has approximately two years (four semesters) to complete his thesis (no more than eight semesters). One year must be completed in residence; the remainder may be completed out of residence.

Deadlines for individual chapters will be set by the instructor. The deadline for the first draft is the Monday before Thanksgiving (fall semester) or the first day of May (spring semester). The deadline for the final draft is the last day of exam week. Failure to meet either deadline will result in the requirement to register for Thesis Development the following semester.

The student must be registered for Thesis Development until the completion of his thesis. If the thesis is not complete after two semesters in Thesis Development, the student must continue to register for Thesis Development (though he will not receive any more credits).

No student will be given a diploma after eight semesters of Thesis Development. Dropping out of Thesis Development after the first year will result in removal from the Master of Theology program.

Defense The student must successfully defend his thesis before the thesis committee and make all necessary revisions before the deadline for the final draft.

Copies A first draft copy must be given to each member of the thesis committee. A final draft copy and computer disk copy must be placed in the library.
